April ‘After 5’ Networking Event & Ribbon Cutting at Amherst Oyster Bar
April 3, 2025
Amherst, MA – The Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host its April “After 5” Networking Event at the newly-opened Amherst Oyster Bar on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 51 North Pleasant Street in Amherst.
This month’s After 5 is presented by bankESB, with additional support from Amherst Innovative Living and the Amherst Business Improvement District—whose contributions help make this event possible. The Chamber is pleased to welcome Amherst Cinema as the featured nonprofit for the evening.
The evening will bring together local business owners, community leaders, and stakeholders to foster meaningful connections and explore new opportunities. A highlight of the evening will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of Amherst Oyster Bar. Guests will enjoy a sampling of the restaurant’s coastal-inspired menu, including oysters on the half shell, baked oysters, fried calamari, burnt end-style mushrooms, and more.
“We’re thrilled to host an After 5 at the Amherst Oyster Bar, which is an exciting new addition to our local dining scene,” said Jacob Robinson, Executive Director of the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our After 5 series shows our commitment to bringing members of the business community together to celebrate entrepreneurship and build connections.”
Amherst Oyster Bar officially opened its doors on April 1, 2025, offering a menu full of fresh, sustainable oysters, and plenty of seafood and other unique dishes.
“We are so excited to bring Amherst Oyster Bar to downtown Amherst and look forward to becoming an active part of this vibrant community,” said Alex Phaneuf, General Manager of Amherst Oyster Bar. “With seating for 160 guests, a rotating selection of the freshest oysters and seafood, 24 beers on tap, and an extensive wine list, we’re dedicated to delivering an unmatched dining experience.”
The oysters aren’t the only thing worth admiring—though the stunning 8-foot oyster display at the entrance might suggest otherwise. The spacious interior unfolds into two inviting sections, featuring a mix of low and high-top seating, all illuminated by strands of string lights and accented with round mirrors reminiscent of a ship’s portholes.
"When designing this space it was crucial to express our commitment to ocean conservation," said Alden Peotter, Operations Manager of Amherst Oyster Bar. "Sustainability is woven into every detail from the seat backs to the carpet, both of which are made from recycled ocean plastics."
Event Highlights:
- Networking: Connect with local business professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
- Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony: Celebrate the grand opening of Amherst Oyster Bar.
- Taste The Menu: Enjoy a preview of the Amherst Oyster Bar’s signature dishes.
