About Us

Amherst Cinema shows first-run independent film and world cinema on four screens every day – Oscar® winners and film gems seen nowhere else in Western Massachusetts. Our comfortable, fully accessible theaters offer state-of-the-art projection and sound and our friendly staff will welcome you.

We also present a stunning array of international theater, dance and music performances in HD (Britain’s National Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, etc.), and we host internationally known and rising filmmakers at screenings of their works. In addition, we present film series and screenings of classic film masterpieces.

Our groundbreaking arts education program for school children uses the immense power of cinema to teach young learners how to write their own stories.

Amherst Cinema is an independent, nonprofit cultural arts organization and a member of the Art House Convergence, a national association of like-minded independent theaters.
