Name: Create at The Carle! Art Classes for Adults: Collage
    Date: May 4, 2017 - July 10, 2017
    Event Description:
Join us for Create at The Carle! a program for adults 55 and older interested in expressing themselves through visual art. In this eight-week workshop, participants working with Collage Artist and Illustrator, Micha Archer, will have the opportunity to explore a range of techniques for creating collages and collage papers including tissue paper layering, homemade rubber stamps, texture rubbings, and wax and rice paste resist. Participants will also learn simple transferal techniques that will contribute to the composition and creation of their own personalized collages. The program will include time spent looking closely at original artworks from The Carle’s collection and a visit from artist Ekua Holmes, a Boston based painter and collage artist who at age 60 illustrated her first children’s book Voice of Freedom: Fannie Lou Hamer, Spirit of the Civil Rights Movement, which won a 2016 Caldecott Honor. Create at the Carle! is presented in partnership with Aroha Philanthropies in order to support the development and expansion of Artful Aging programs.
