Portraits of my Family Oil Paintings and Oil Pastel Drawings by Thérèse Légère Creating a portrait is an act of love and discipline. For Thérèse Légère, a good portrait is a combination of accurate proportions, personal expression, and above all the feeling of depth and soul that emerges from the eyes. Due to the amount of time and dedication involved in painting a portrait Thérèse Légère mostly uses her family as subjects. Portraits become a way for her to explore herself, to heal the past, to connect deeper with a parent that has left, and to remember the joys of childhood. Thérèse majored in fine arts at the College St-Laurent in Montréal and studied portraiture with Jean Lefebure; a student and artist of the Automatiste movement in Montréal. For the month of June, she invites you to her exhibition at the Visitors Information Center at 35 South Pleasant St., Amherst MA. Check out her art at: http://fineartamerica.com/artists/therese+legere
