Existing Committees
Ambassadors Committee
Chair – Peggy Marshall, 413-253-5555
Contacts new and existing members regarding what they are looking for from Chamber membership. Welcomes new members and hand-delivers New Member packets. Meets monthly. This is a great opportunity to meet new businesses and introduce your business, while serving the Chamber and fulfilling the Ambassadors Committee’s mission.
Annual Dinner
Chair – April Williams, 413-549-5267
Plans annual awards dinner. Planning usually begins in November or December for dinner in May. Meets monthly November – March, then bi-weekly or weekly until event. One wrap-up meeting is held after the event. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in this community/business event, while promoting your business and your role.
Golf Tournament
Chair – Jim Conlon, 413-549-5267
Plans the annual Golf Tournament, scheduled for July 21 in 2008. Golfers and those with golf tournament experience are particularly appreciated, but golf experience is not required to help with this venture.
Government Affairs
Contact – Cinda Jones, 413-549-1403
Reviews Town Meeting warrants, ballot issues, etc., and makes recommendations for Chamber endorsement. Meets on an as needed basis to address any issues, laws and mandates that affect Amherst and local commerce. This committee gives you the opportunity to share your views, voice your opinion and help make a difference for local businesses in the Amherst area. Meets on an ad hoc basis.
Merry Maple

Plans Holiday Lighting of downtown and Merry Maple celebration on 1st Friday in December. Meets from September through the event. This is a festive committee enabling you to use creativity to expand the event and upgrade downtown lighting.
Program

This committee helps plan Breakfast and After5 networking programs, recruiting speakers, sponsors and hosts.
Promotion
Coordinator – Joan Temkin
Makes recommendations on how to better promote the area through collaborative advertising, etc. and how to better promote the Chamber. Oversees all publications to develop Chamber “brand.” Meets approximately every six weeks. This committee developed the Amherst Area Visitor’s Guide and the Relocation Guide.
Taste of Amherst
Chair – John Thibbits, 413-253-0700
Plans the annual Taste of Amherst held every June. Meets monthly starting in January and more frequently until the event to discuss changes, enhancements and upgrades to the event. This is a dynamic and regionally popular event with over 20,000 visitors. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in this community/business event, while promoting your business and your role.
Development

Looking at ways of more effectively funding events and asking for donations from membership.
